About Living Church of God
The Living Church of God is a church that is dedicated to practicing original Christianity as it was taught and practiced by Jesus Christ and the original Apostles, which includes the acknowledgement of annual Holy Days and observance of the seventh-day Sabbath. The Living Church of God’s members see themselves as the spiritual heirs of the original Jerusalem Church of New Testament times. The church’s beliefs are rooted in those of the Worldwide Church of God, whose leader, Mr. Herbert W. Armstrong, notably ordained the Living Church of God’s founding Presiding Evangelist, Dr. Roderick C. Meredith.
The Living Church of God was founded by Roderick C. Meredith in 1998. Dr. Meredith stood as the founding Presiding Evangelist of the church and proclaimed the truth of God to millions of followers for over 64 years until his passing, through a variety of books, articles, campaigns, television programs, videos, and related media distributed within the US, Canada, the UK, and other nations. Evangelist Gerald Weston was appointed his successor in 2016 after consultation with the Council of Elders, fellow ministers, and friends within the congregation. Mr. Weston became the Presiding Evangelist of the church in 2017 after Dr. Meredith’s death and has the support of the Living Church of God’s ministers and faithful brethren as he continues its mission of preaching news of the coming Kingdom of God.
Since its founding, the Living Church of God has expanded to be active in North and South America, Asia, the Caribbean, Africa, Europe, and Australia with over 239 ministers and 401 congregations worldwide. The Living Church of God reviews a wide variety of prophetic topics through its award-winning weekly telecast, Tomorrow’s World, its publication Tomorrow’s World magazine, and its series of live Tomorrow’s World presentations. The Living Church of God Reviews Supply Chain Disruptions
As part of its Tomorrow’s World publication, the Living Church of God reviews concepts relevant to today’s world through the lens of biblical teachings. To date, Tomorrow’s World has covered a multitude of topics such as experiencing loss, the history of the Frank Slide, multiverse theories, and more. Notably, the Living Church of God also reviews a host of current events as well and has recently explored the realities of supply chain disruptions that have been making headlines for quite some time. Here, the Living Church of God reviews COVID-19’s impact on supply chains and troubling signs of sudden disaster as described in the Bible.
The Realities of the COVID-19 Pandemic
During the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, hospitals were quickly reaching capacity and international governments implemented lockdowns and stay-at-home orders to slow the impact of the virus. Naturally, this had a profound effect on demand for products as production of some goods and services steeply declined and others were made unavailable due to supply chain disruptions. The Living Church of God reviews how microprocessor production is a perfect example of this trend. The ramping up of worldwide production has necessitated that administrators create safeguards to ensure that similar issues do not happen in the future, especially as experts uphold that the pipeline will be restored within the next couple of years.
Supply Shortages’ Impact on National Security
The Living Church of God recognizes that, when examining supply chain disruptions and shortages, it is crucial to consider the history of supply shortages’ relationship to national security. The Church uses the US’ control of petroleum during World War II as an example and recognizes that Japan’s tactical decision to attack Pearl Harbor, Malaysia, and Thailand was an act to secure critical resources.
The Church notes that this is evident in recent times as well, recognizing that European leaders are growing increasingly concerned that Russia will leverage its natural gas supply for political and economic power. Experts speak to how the concern extends to China as well as much of the world’s shipping passes through the South China Sea. There are many scenarios where countries could expand to strategically cut off other nations’ access to necessary supplies, and this is impossible to overlook as supply disruptions continue to make headlines.
Wars and Rumors of Wars in Biblical Text
The Living Church of God reviews the relationship between our current realities and the text of the Bible as a means to contextualize them. The Church finds that there are a variety of biblical verses that encapsulate the relationship between resources and the relationship between nations. When Jesus’s disciples were gathered at the Mount of Olives shortly before his execution, they asked him for clarity, possibly relating to the prophecy stated in Zechariah 14:2-4. Jesus replied “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, [that] ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows” (Matthew 24:3-8).
Christ further elaborates on the concept in the last book of the Bible, dictating that false Christianity will deceive the world, which will soon be followed by wars and famine. Disease, pandemics, and widespread death will later take hold and further impact the world soon after. While many of us could never imagine the global pandemic and its impact on our ways of life, the Church notes that Jesus includes various instructions for what to do in similar times. In Mark 13:5-23, Jesus mentions that those living in potential end times should keep watch for signs of biblical prophecy and the return of the Lord. In the present day, while these developments do not necessarily signal the beginning of the Great Tribulation, it is important to thoroughly examine the impact these changes have on our world as they will be instrumental to how nations and individuals within our communities may respond.
